Tributes have been paid to a biker who died in a crash on the coast road at the weekend.

Jamie Vizor has been named locally as the victim who died in the crash on the B3157 between Portesham and Chickerell on Sunday.

Dorset Police said a man in his 20s, from Stroud, died after a collision involving his motorcycle and a 4x4 shortly before 5.30pm.

Mr Vizor worked at Dann Barber, which has branches in Stroud and Cirencester before moving to Sysums Barbers in Stroud, and was very well known and extremely popular, the Stroud News & Journal reported.

Warm tributes poured in on Facebook to Mr Vizor, a much-loved father to a daughter and step-daughter. Friends say both girls will miss him enormously.

Mr Vizor played rugby for Painswick RFC who paid tribute to him in a tweet.

The coast road crash involved a black Triumph motorcycle and a green Daihatsu 4x4.

Emergency services, including the air ambulance, attended and the motorcyclist was treated for serious injuries. He died at the scene.

His family has been informed and is being supported by specially-trained officers.

The two occupants of the Daihatsu were taken to hospital for treatment to minor injuries.

Police are now appealing for witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam footage to come forward.

Sergeant Mark Scammell, of the traffic unit, said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the motorcyclist at this time and we are carrying out a full investigation to establish the exact circumstances of this collision.

“I am appealing to any witnesses who have not already spoken to police to contact us. I would also urge anyone who was driving in the area at the time with dashcam to check their footage to see if they may have captured the collision or the manner of driving of the vehicles involved prior to it.

“Finally, I would like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding while the road closures were in place. These are necessary to allow the emergency services to respond to the incident safely and for a detailed examination of the collision scene.”
