A deer is thought to have died following an attack by dogs in a suspected coursing incident in the Cotswolds.

Members of the Gloucestershire Constabulary's rural crime team found the dead deer in the Fosse Cross area on Thursday.

They believe deer coursers lifted off gates to a field and set their dogs on to this deer.

A spokesman for Gloucestershire Constabulary's rural crime team said: "This is not sport! It's a sick obsession.

"At least deer poachers use the meat. Not condoning poaching, but it makes more sense compared to this."
