THE wait is over, Brimscombe have finally won their first game of the season, writes Scott Boulton.

Sam Prior’s side conjured up the kind of form that saw them finish runners-up last season with a swashbuckling 2-1 victory at fourth-place Brackley Saints.

Prior was delighted to see his side get up and running, he said: “I never thought we’d be in the position we’re in, and we still have a lot of work to do to get ourselves out of it. But the boys deserve to enjoy their night after a disciplined, proper performance.”

Earlier, George Ball gave Brackley the lead as he fizzed beyond Ash Gale.

The Lilywhites responded. Ollie Pitt went close and then a Jake Parrott howitzer was tipped over the bar. However, Brimscombe finally got their rewards when Jamie Bremner planted a strike into the bottom corner of the net. Brimscombe lost Pitt at the break and he was replaced by Edd Major.

Brimscombe started the second-half on the front foot - striker James Campbell watching his strike ripple the outside of the net.

The long-awaited first win of the season was sealed by debutant Johan Flo who finished with aplomb.
