Dursley 10 Gordon League 10

Dursley welcomed Gordon League in this rearranged fixture and were left wondering how they managed to share the points, writes Chris Perrett.

Dursley took the lead on six minutes when Boucher kicked a penalty from 25 meters. The home side then spent the next 20 minutes deep into the visitor’s half completing phase after phase of attacks. A five-meter lineout to Dursley should have resulted in a score however the ball was spilled with the try line beckoning. The home side found themselves once again on the five-meter line with a scrum put in, but this time a penalty was awarded to Gordon League for early engagement. The visitors released some of the pressure with a kick forward which was knocked on in the Dursley half, the resulting scrum was turned over and with a deft touch Lennard pop the ball up to Bailey who broke through three attempted tackled to race away and score under the posts, Boucher added the conversation for 10-0. The lead was short lived as from the restart Dursley were penalised for not releasing the ball. The visitors kicked to touch won the lineout and from fully 20 meters drove over the Dursley try line for a half time score of 10-7.

Half-time saw the introduction of Camm who’s first contribution was to concede a penalty from the restart for holding on in front of the posts, the number ten drew the scores level. This proved to be the last score of the game, despite both teams continued efforts, the home side's backline never really got going with the usual fluid flowing rugby.

The forwards welcomed back Plumridge and Jaeps there was also a first start for 18-year-old Kirby who showed enough to the watching supporters to say they could be watching him for years to come.

With one-minute remaining Dursley were awarded a kickable penalty, however they decided to kick to the corner, the last play saw the lineout lost and with it two points.
