Thornbury ladies' first XI welcomed Redland to The Castle school.

Thornbury defended extremely well against a strong Redland team, with new goalie for the week Sarah Lally taking the reins and making some fabulous saves. She was supported well by the experienced Carys Allen and captain Sarah Brealey as well as youngsters Izzy Wyres and Lucy Vizard.

In midfield, showing good passing skills and control of the ball,were Charlie Griffiths, Kate Wilson, Molly Glew, Connie Talbot and Jess Wilson. Unfortunately, despite getting the ball into the goal area our forwards, Catherine Wilson and Ella Clark were unlucky to not get the ball over the goal line. Final score 0-1 to Redland.

The Vixens development team of youth and players returning to hockey are developing well but lost 6-0 to South Glos.

The junior team, made up of girls in school years 6-9 made the trip to Yate to play against Westbury in their most recent league game. The scoring was opened by Thornbury’s Sophie Vizard and Poppy Newman with a fantastic strike.

Alice Atkinson continued the scoring for Thornbury. Alice Atkinson, who showed great leadership as captain, scored again making the half-time score 4-1.

Tilly Jordan kept the defence uplifted with good communications skills with Izzie Ormond, Sidonie Johnston and Charlotte Webster making her debut in goal. Midfield players, Rose Alexander , Daisy Lambert-Mardon, Kayla Dracup and Naomi Novak controlled the ball well and managed to feed the ball to forwards, including debutant Erin Richards.

Sophie Vizard managed to net her second of the game, making the final score 5-2 to Thornbury.
