The M5 has re-opened following a closure earlier this morning due to an excessive amount of mud in the road.

The motorway was closed southbound between J9 Tewksbury and J11 Gloucester.

Initially the road closed from J8 at around 3.45am.

Highways crews have been working hard throughout the morning clearing the carriageway, and it has now re-opened.

There are still long delays in the area with queues thought to be over six miles long adding around 40 minutes longer to people's journeys this morning.
