Two people who died after a tree fell on a car as it travelled through the Cotswolds on Thursday night are thought to be a mother and her teenage daughter.

The incident occurred around 10.15pm on the B4077 at Stanway Hill.

The road was closed north of Ford and at the Toddington roundabout as police carry out recovery and investigation work at the scene.

Although formal identification is yet to take place, police believe a 16-year-old girl and 56-year-old woman died in the incident.

The next of kin of those who were in the vehicle has been informed.

Anyone who witnessed the incident but has not spoken to the police should call 101 and quote incident 405 of November 21.
