Malmesbury residents young and old came together on Sunday to remember those who have lost their lives in conflict.

A Remembrance Day service was held in Malmesbury Abbey following a parade through the town.

Malmesbury mayor Julie Exton said: "For me it was made extra special for the youth of the town to parade with us to the abbey.

"One of my wishes is to bring the young people to become more of a part in civic events.

"They are so very important, our next generation.

"It made my heart swell with pride to have them parade with us.

"I hope this is something that we can build on and include more in following years.

"Malmesbury Fire Fighters also paraded with us.

"Yesterday was so special with the small service at the memorial gates and later at the abbey.

"What I would love in future too is for veterans to join us in our parade.

"Thank you to Rev Oliver Ross for a wonderful service.

"We as a town are so lucky he has settled here with us.

"Lastly a thank you to the town clerk, staff and mace bearer."
