BEFORE the days of health and safety regulations and the stricter imposition of fireworks regulations in 2004, many people would have bonfires in their gardens as well as going to places like City Bank for public displays.
These wonderful photographs from the late 1960s and early 1970s give a real insight into how the celebrations unfolded many years ago.
They show the Festival of Light in 1971 and bonfire night in 1967 and 1972.
