A new roll of honour board has been unveiled in Lechlade Memorial Hall to replace the board destroyed in the fire that devastated the hall three years ago.

The new board lists all those from the town who died in the Great War, the Second World War and Kenya in 1955.

The board lists the names along with details of their unit, rank, number and date of death.

Military historian and author Paul Cobb researched and compiled the names.

Maj-Gen Sir Evelyn Webb-Carter made a short speech incorporating the story of one soldier, one airman and one sailor before unveiling the board on Sunday.

Funding was generously provided by local county and district councillors, Lechlade Town Council plus grants from the Wiltshire branch and the Cheltenham & Gloucester branch of The Western Front Association 1914-18.

Many residents attended including some related to those named on the memorial.
