As we come to the end of summer, it won’t be long before the attendants pull the covers over Cirencester Open Air Swimming Pool and call it a day for another year.
Next year will be the 150th anniversary of the pool’s opening and will be marked by an exhibition of photos and artefacts dating back to 1870, but not the metal clothes cages that many fondly remember renting for six pence a session.
The pool have been selling them at £15 each – and they have been flying off the shelves as folk clamour to buy a bit of memorabilia.
