Three schools have made it to the final of this year's Pride of the Cotswolds

Coberley C of E Primary School

For such a small school, there’s a lot going on at Coberley.

Friday morning runs, a variety of after school clubs and summer and Christmas fayres all part of life there.

The person nominating the school said: “The locals have watched the school grow and develop, they follow the academic results and are proud such a small rural school is doing so well.”

A spokeswoman for the school said: “We are thrilled to have reached the finals of The Pride of the Cotswolds Awards and are delighted to have the chance to showcase our wonderful school at this prestigious event.”

The Peak Academy, Cam

Wilts and Gloucestershire Standard:

This school caters for children with social, emotional and mental health needs and has been transformed since being place in special measures by Ofsted. Now rated ‘good’, the school is a big part of the community.

The school is no stranger to the Pride of the Cotswolds awards. Sarah Lewis is up for Teacher of the Year while the school was also nominated in this category last year.

Nominating the school, a supporter said: “It excels at nurturing children that have often experienced a difficult home environment.”

Principal Richard Lewis said he was ‘humbled by the nomination and the success of the school’.

Thrupp Primary School

Wilts and Gloucestershire Standard:

Thrupp Primary School near Stroud was nominated for the commitment by staff and pupils to the environment.

Recently pupils gathered 100kg of plastic film in 56 days, as part of a Recycle with Riley challenge set by Stroud company Berry bpi group.

One of the people who nominated the school said: “I genuinely feel they have the children’s best interests at heart.”

Headteacher Donna Mylechreest said: “Thrupp Primary School is thrilled and honoured to have been nominated for this prestigious award.

“We feel at Thrupp our children are encouraged to be very responsible, eco aware citizens.”
