STUDENTS, staff and parents at Thomas Keble School, in Eastcombe, are celebrating another exceptionally strong set of results in 2019 with results reflecting some extraordinary personal achievement levels.

Headteacher Julia Maunder said. “We are absolutely delighted for all our students who have worked exceptionally hard, with staff, to develop the skills necessary to meet the challenge of the new, tougher qualifications.

"We take great pride in being an inclusive comprehensive school and to see students across the full ability range achieve so highly is testament to the commitment of our school community in supporting all students to achieve more than they ever thought possible.

"The early indications are that our class of 2019 have performed at a record breaking level in a number of areas."

These figures include:

• 76% of students achieved 5 or more GCSEs at grades 9-4 including English and Maths

• A record breaking 53% achieved 5 or more GCSEs at grades 9 - 5, despite the exams getting significantly harder this year.

• 78% of the 2019 cohort achieved a grade ‘4’ or above and 55% achieved a grade ‘5’ or above in both English and Maths GCSEs.

• Over 84% of all GCSE grades awarded were at the ‘4’ level, compared to 67% nationally.

• Over 68% of all GCSE grades awarded were at the strong ‘5’ level compared to 50% nationally.

• 22% of all GCSE grades were awarded at the very highest grade 7 – 9

"Our congratulations go to all our students who have earned such excellent results this year, despite the changes to the examination system which added to the pressures they faced," Mrs Maunder added.

"I would also like to acknowledge the hard work of staff and parents in supporting our young people throughout their time with us."
