A Lechlade country pub will look more like a scene from the Tour De France next weekend when cyclists from across the county and country descend upon it.

The Five Alls at Filkins, run by the Barkby Group is playing host to the annual ‘Filkins Sportif’ on Saturday, August 31.

An annual event which, the event began in 2014 with a limited number of riders but last year, saw over 80 turn up for the countryside ride with two cycling routes, one 50km and another at 100k.

“One of our locals, Paul Floyd, organises the cycling side, with us arranging a nice atmosphere and entertainment for their return”, explained manager Gerald Gallagher.

“It is a great way to finish the summer and is enjoyed by so many now; I am sure this will be another record year - its ideal for novices and enthusiasts alike!”

The event is open to all.

Riders should be at the Five Alls for a 9am start, arriving arrive early for a bacon roll before setting off.

The ride finishes back at the pub with a barbecue, starting between 1pm and 2pm.

There will also be live music and a bouncy castle for children.
