THE Great West Way is in the running to win a national award in recognition of the work to improve tourism into the area. The Great West Way was launched in 2018 to highlight a route, which runs through Wiltshire to see the West fo the country from London all the way to Bristol.
The project has targeted people in UK, Germany, the Netherlands, USA and Canada to increase the number of people visiting the area with Devizes, Marlborough and Chippenham all on the map.
It has been named in the Launch Campaign of the Year category, at the Travolution Awards.
David Andrews, director of the Great West Way, said: “We are thrilled that the Great West Way has been shortlisted for Launch Campaign of the Year. It’s been a very successful first year for the route as we also received an award at the Group Travel Awards for ‘Development of Incoming Group Visitors to the UK’, in June. We’re excited about attending the Travolution Awards ceremony and hope to celebrate the Great West Way’s first anniversary by receiving this award.”
