HERE are some of the latest Magistrates Court results from the last couple of weeks.

Stephen McGoldrick, 50, appeared at Bristol Magistrates' Court today (August 13) where he pleaded guilty to five counts of making indecent images of children.

All counts related to the former Gloucestershire police officer downloading or viewing images on the internet.

The offences were committed between 2008 and 2019 and came to light when indecent images were found on McGoldrick's mobile phone in April this year.

Gloucestershire police subsequently secured warrants at two addresses linked to McGoldrick and seized multiple devices including a laptop and USB flash drives.

There were found to be a total of five Category A images, 23 Category B images and 9,134 Category C indecent images of children across ten devices.

McGoldrick was suspended before resigning from when he was charged with the offences in July. He is due to face gross misconduct proceedings.

McGoldrick has been bailed with conditions to attend Bristol Crown Court for sentence on September 11.

Bail conditions include to not have contact with anyone under the age of 18 and to reside at a specified address which is not in Gloucestershire.

 

David Livesey, 30, of Longs Drive, Yate, pleaded guilty to drink-driving at Bristol Magistrates' Court on August 12.

He was more than twice the legal limit when he was pulled over by police in Bristol on July 8.

When tested, results showed he had 75 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.

He was banned from driving for 17 months and he was fined £291 as well as being forced to pay a victim services charge of £32 and £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

 

Andrew McColm, 71, of Beach Road, Severn Beach, has been given a curfew and an electronic tag after driving while disqualified.

He drove a Toyota Yaris without a licence or insurance at Cribbs Causeway on June 9 and pleaded guilty at Bristol Magistrates' Court on August 12.

McColm was given a four-week curfew with electronic monitoring which prevents him leaving the house between 6pm and 6am.

He was also banned from holding a licence for an additional six months and ordered to pay fines and costs totalling £225

 

Josh Law, 25, of Dodington Lane, Chipping Sodbury pleaded guilty to drink-driving and failure to stop for police at Bristol Magistrates' Court on August 13.

He was more than three times the legal limit in Normandy Drive, Yate, on July 27.

Law was banned from driving for 26 months, ordered to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work and pay fines and costs totalling £382.

 

Kevin Phillips, 34, of High Street, Cam appeared at Cheltenham Magistrates' Court on August 1.

He was given a suspended sentence in August 2018 for possession of a knife and class B drugs and then breached this on April 19 this year when he assaulted a woman in Stroud and used threatening behaviour towards her and another man.

Phillips pleaded guilty but the court found it would be 'unjust' to activate the suspended sentence as the defendant was making 'good progress' and the latests offences were unrelated to those the original sentence was given for.

In total an extra 120 hours of unpaid work were added.

The latest sentence is 26-weeks imprisonment suspended for 18 months.

 

Arthur Watts, 54, of The Street, Didmarton pleaded guilty to four offences at Cheltenham Magistrates Court on August 1.

The incidents happened on Hawkesbury Road and the High Street in Wotton-under-Edge on July 16.

Watts was found to have 103 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, the legal limit being 35 micrograms.

The court also heard how Watts was involved in a collision with another car, but failed to stop at the scene.

Watts was also found guilty of driving without a licence and insurance.

He was handed a 12 week suspended sentence and banned from driving for 26 months.

Watts was also ordered to pay compensation of £826.39.

 

Steven Aldworth, 47, of Badger Road, Thornbury, pleaded guilty to drink-driving at Bristol Magistrates' Court on August 13.

He was nearly twice the drink-drive limit on Badger Road on July 19.

Aldworth was disqualified from driving for 18 months and ordered to pay fines and costs totalling £516.

 

Rebecca Wild, 30, of The Wordens in Cashes Green, was caught driving a Volkswagen Golf while under the influence of cannabis, in Whiteshill on February 14.

At a hearing at Cheltenham Magistrates' Court on July 31, Wild was banned from driving for 12 months, fined £120 and told to pay a £30 surcharge to fund victim services and £85 towards the court costs.

 

Peter Benn, 38, of Windyridge, Stroud, admitted driving with excess alcohol when he appeared before Cheltenham magistrates on August 8.

He was stopped in his car in Morrisons car park in Nailsworth on July 23 this year.

Benn was found to have 106 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, the legal limit being 35 micrograms.

He was given a community order and told to have treatment for alcohol dependency.

Benn was also banned from driving for 48 months, which could be reduced by a year on completion of a court approved course.

Plus he was fined £453, ordered to pay costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £90.

 

Andrew Smith, 60, of Station Road, Bourton-on-the-Water, admitted driving with excess alcohol when he appeared before Cheltenham magistrates on July 31.

He was stopped in his car on the A429 in Stow-on-the-Wold on July 11 this year.

Smith was found to have 109 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

He was ordered to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months.

Smith was also banned from driving for 25 months and ordered to pay costs of £1

 

Flynn Stronach, 46, of Cirencester Road, Northleach was found guilty of driving without insurance when he appeared before Cheltenham Magistrates' Court on July 31.

He was caught on the A40 London Road, Cheltenham on March 3 this year.

Stronach was handed six penalty points on his licence, fined £500 and ordered to pay costs of £135.

 

Digbeth Property Services Ltd has been ordered to pay more than £25,000 following unauthorised work on a listed building.

Cotswold District Council prosecuted the owners of St Edwards House, The Square, Stow-on-the-Wold for carrying out the works and alterations to the Grade II listed building.

The company pleaded guilty on Monday, July 22 at Cheltenham Magistrates Court to undertaking the work without seeking permission.

The work included destruction and replacement of sash windows and internal alterations to the impressive building.

Prior to commencing any works a listed building consent application should have been made to the council so that the impact of the proposed works on the listed building could have been fully assessed.

The company was fined £20,000 and ordered to pay costs of £5,821.

 

Kate McGrath, 18, of Cirencester Whiteway, Cirencester, admitted driving with excess alcohol when she appeared before Cheltenham magistrates on July 31.

She was stopped in her car on Queens Street, Cheltenham on July 16 this year.

McGrath was found to have 51 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, the legal limit being 35 micrograms.

She was banned from driving for 14 months, fined £120 and ordered to pay costs of £117.

A Cirencester man who attempted to steal a £500 mountain bike has been ordered to pay £6.98 in compensation.

 

Garry May, aged 35, of Upper Churnside, pleaded guilty to attempting to steal the bike at Cheltenham Magistrates Court on August 1.

The court head how May tried to steal the red Cannondale mountain bike on June 4.

May also pleaded guilty to stealing a bottle of £7 wine belonging to Co-Op in Cirencester on June 5.

He was ordered to pay compensation of £7, and pay costs of £105.

 

A 33-year-old Exeter man has been accused of communicating sexually with two girls aged 12 and 13 in South Cerney.

Cheltenham Magistrates were told on Wednesday that Matthew McKay is charged with engaging in sexual communication with a child between July 9 and July 26, 2018 and between July 10 and July 18, 2018.

Both alleged offences were committed at an address in South Cerney.

He is alleged to have sent an intimate photograph to one of them and making an indecent statement to the other.

McKay, of New North Road, Exeter, appeared before Cheltenham magistrates yesterday by video link from custody.

His next appearance will be at Exeter Crown Court on August 22.

He was remanded in custody until then.

 

A Cirencester drink-driver who was more than three times the limit has been banned for 14 months.

Henry Lewis, aged 68, of Meadow Road, pleaded guilty to two offences at Cheltenham Magistrates Court on August 1.

He was stopped in his car on Ermin Way in Cirencester on January 27 this year.

The court heard how Lewis was found to have 124 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, the legal limit being 35 micrograms.

He was also found guilty of driving without a licence and drink driving.

Lewis was banned from driving for 14 months and ordered to pay costs of £295.
