A DRINK-DRIVER who failed to stop after being involved in a crash has avoided jail.

Arthur Watts, 54, of The Street, Didmarton pleaded guilty to four offences at Cheltenham Magistrates Court on August 1.

The incidents happened on Hawkesbury Road and the High Street in Wotton Under Edge on July 16.

Watts was found to have 103 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, the legal limit being 35 micrograms.

The court also heard how Watts was involved in a collision with another car, but failed to stop at the scene.

Watts was also found guilty of driving without a licence and insurance.

He was handed a 12 week suspended sentence and banned from driving for 26 months.

Watts was also ordered to pay compensation of £826.39.
