Students at the Castle School Sixth Form are celebrating this morning after another impressive set of A-level results.

Of the 152 students, 82 per cent achieved A*-C grades with 31 per cent obtaining an A or A*.

The highest achievers were Joe Baldwin, Reuben Hendy, Luke Turvey and Sarah Tyrer who all got 3 A* grades.

Also impressing were Lucy Rowan (A*A*A A), Pfeiffer Georgi and Megan McLaughlin (both A*A*A).

Altogether, 19 students achieved at least 3 A grades. Among them, Lizzie O’Brien and Megan Allen have won places to study Medicine, while Bethany Wong will be studying Veterinary Science.

Will Roberts, executive headteacher, said: “The performance of students in our Sixth Form remains a very strong feature of the school, and we consistently see excellent progress by students of all abilities.

These results are even better than the excellent ones last year; I’m really pleased for the students, and very grateful to all their teachers for the outstanding support they’ve provided.”

Sarah Ockenden, head of sixth form, added: “It has been a pleasure and a privilege for all of us to have worked with this talented group of students.

"This excellent set of results is richly deserved and is testament to the students’ sheer hard work, their motivation and their resilience.

"Success comes in many forms, and it is not just those students with the highest grades who will be celebrating today.

"Some have gained results well beyond their expectations, whilst others have made life-changing progress in the course of their sixth form studies.

"They are now able to take the next steps towards achieving their goals, and we wish them all the very best for their future.”

While Marlwood and Castle School have shared sixth form course for many years, today marks the first set of results since the two sixth forms were merged together entirely.
