BURGLARS armed with weapons threatened two people who tried to challenge them after the thieves raided a home near Cirencester yesterday evening.

Police were called at around 5.10pm where three men had reportedly just left a house in Meysey Hampton carrying various items.

It is not yet known what was stolen in the burglary.

A Gloucestershire Constabulary spokeswoman said: "They were spotted by two members of the public who were subsequently threatened with weapons. The offenders then fled the scene in a vehicle.

"The homeowners were not at the address at the time of the burglary and the members of the public were not physically injured."

Investigating officers are appealing for information on the burglary, and are particularly keen to hear from anyone who has seen a vehicle in the area, or surrounding area, which had a foreign registration plate.

Anyone with information about the incident should call police on 101 and reference incident 316 of August 13.
