Beauty competitions and pageants used to be really popular nationally and locally. Cirencester certainly had its share.
The Carnival Queen competition ran for many years eventually evolving into a Fairy Princess competition for teenagers and younger.
There were actually other beauty competitions in Cirencester including Secretary of the Year which ran in the mid 1980’s for a while and the Barmaid of the year competition which also ran during the same period.
