Thousands of homes were left without power in the Tetbury and Malmesbury areas earlier this evening.
An electricity pylon on fire near Parklands in Malmesbury caused the outage across the area at around 6.30pm.
Fire engines attended the scene.
Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks Tweeted to say: "We're sorry for the powercut affecting Tetbury and the surrounding areas.
"Our engineers are responding to this as quickly as possible and aim to have all supplies restored by 20:00."
Power has since returned to homes affected just before 8pm.
