A man has been banned from all licensed premises in Marlborough after being convicted of assault against a pub landlord.
Paul Hope, aged 46, of Berrycroft, Marlborough, was ordered to pay £500 compensation to his victim after pleading to assault by beating at Swindon Magistrates Court on 12 June 2019.
The offence happened on 10 May 2019, when Hope was asked to leave the Green Dragon public house in Marlborough and responded by assaulting the landlord.
We have now also received confirmation that Hope has been banned from all licensed premises in the town for the next six months, which takes him up to 12 December 2019.
Sergeant James Robbins, from Wiltshire East CPT, said: “This sentence sends a strong message that the police and the courts will take action to keep the public safe from violent offenders.
“The landlord in this case had asked Hope to leave the premises after he had been drunk and aggressive towards staff.
“He initially left, but then ran back and physically attacked the landlord, as well as making violent threats to people in the pub.”
