A newly erected speed camera is being investigated as it's believed to be illegitimate.

The camera has been spotted outside a house on the A429 between Armscote and Moreton-in-Marsh.

There are also new 50 mile per hour speed limit signs which have appeared on the road.

After much speculation about it's legitimacy, Gloucestershire County Council has confirmed that the camera does not belong to them and revealed their highways team are investigating.

A spokesperson for the council, said: “The council and police install and operate all road-side speed cameras in Gloucestershire.

"This camera on the A429 has not been installed by the council, and our highways inspectors are making additional enquiries to ensure the safety of road users.

“We would like to remind residents that unauthorised works carried out on the highway are illegal and can place passing road users at risk.”
