Volunteers of a popular charity shop in Malmesbury are celebrating 25 years in the town.

The Sue Ryder shop on The Gant opened for trade 25 years ago this month.

Shop manager for the Malmesbury store Ali Baker has thanked volunteers, donors and customers for their support.

“We’re so pleased to announce that this month it will have been an incredible 25 years since we opened the doors of our shop in Malmesbury," Ali said.

“Our shop on The Gant offers the Malmesbury community high quality, second hand clothing, books and homewares at bargain prices, all the while supporting Sue Ryder’s palliative, neurological and bereavement care.

“The annual turnover of our Malmesbury shop is enough to fund a Sue Ryder nurse – someone who is there to give care and support for people and their families at the most difficult time of their lives - so that’s 25 years of nursing care we have supported.

“This is a great achievement that wouldn’t have been possible without our dedicated team of volunteers."

Dedicated volunteers at the shop give up their free time to help out, sorting stock, serving customers and keeping the shop open all week from Monday to Saturday. And the shop are always interested in expanding its team of volunteers.

“I would also like to thank the Malmesbury community, which has been so generous with its constant stream of donations, and our regulars who stop by to browse our selection of goods," Ali said.

“We’re looking forward to many more years supporting Sue Ryder’s palliative, neurological and bereavement care.

“If you would like to be part of something special, we are always interested to hear from people who would like to volunteer.

"We’re a welcoming, friendly team and volunteering is a great way to meet new people, learn new skills, and give something back. Donations are always welcome too, and can be dropped off at the shop during opening hours."
