A car dealership has been saved safeguarding up to 30 jobs in Cirencester.

Baylis Vauxhall has re-located to Gloucester Road, Stratton, after the dealership was served notice on its previous site which the landlords plan to develop as retail destination.

After securing a long-term lease on the garage at Stratton, the premises have been totally refurbished.

There are now enhanced customer facilities, with an extensive used car forecourt, smart, modern new car showrooms and service reception areas, plus a parts counter, workshops and MOT testing bays.

Additional Baylis technical departments for overflow work are located nearby, and there will shortly be a reception desk for accident repairs, ensuring continuity with the facilities offered at the previous garage.

Service manager for Cirencester, Tom Moss, said: “We’re really looking forward to welcoming all our customers to Gloucester Road, Stratton and showing them the excellent new facilities we have here.

"It may look more compact than our previous site, but having everything under one roof - plus the advanced technology we have now - will provide a much better experience for everyone.”

Baylis has eight Vauxhall franchises in Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire.

Over the past five years, a programme of modernisation and improvement has seen a thorough refurbishment of its showrooms.

There has also been a major investment in new technology behind the scenes, with the new facility in Cirencester Baylis' latest investment.

Today Baylis has nearly 400 staff, many of whom have been employed within the business for decades.
