A group of young footballers have donated the remainder of their kitty to the BBC This Country charity game which will take place in July.

Cirencester Town Under 16s had £140 left in their kitty after completing their season.

The cash was going to be used for an end of season treat but instead the team, managed by Nick Dyer, decided to donate it to the game which is in aid of the Big Yellow Bus Project, Shine and #FreeVFree.

A team made up of the cast of BBC's This Country will be taking on a Cirencester Town veterans XI at the Corinium Stadium on Sunday, July 21.

The team will be managed by Trevor Cooper (who plays Len) and Paul Chahidi (who plays Rev. Francis).

Charlie Cooper (Kurtan), Jimmy Walker (Dan Greaves), Liam George (PC Webber) and director Tom George will all be taking part in the charity match while Daisy May Cooper (Kerry) will act as the teams cheerleader.

Sky Sports News' Ed Draper, BBC Sports Wendy Lloyd, BBC Points West's Steve Knibbs and Spring Watch's Roger Webb are also down to play in the match.

Paul Cooper, who plays Martin Mucklowe in the programme praised the team for their gesture.

He tweeted: "That's incredible. Thank you so much guys!!!"

Tickets for the charity game are priced at £10 for adults and free for under 18s.

Doors will open at 12pm with the match kicking off at 2pm.
