Families will have the opportunity to attend a local for festival for free after organisers donated five family tickets to Cirencester Foodbank.

Organisers of Tetfest, a music festival in Tetbury have donated the tickets to the foodbank to give to families who couldn’t otherwise afford a day out to enjoy live music.

Malcolm Philby, one of the event organisers, presented the tickets to Cirencester Foodbank’s manager Rachel Brindley and these will now be distributed to families using the Foodbank’s services.

“We are very grateful to Tetfest for this kind donation,” said Rachel Brindley.

“These tickets will bring a lot of pleasure to parents and children who couldn’t otherwise afford a day out to enjoy live music.

"It is fantastic that a community event like Tetfest is supporting foodbank in this way and I know these tickets are going to make the recipients very happy.”

Tetfest, which takes place on July 13, donates all its surplus profits to local charities.

In 2018, this amounted to nearly £1,000, which was given to causes such as Tetbury Hospital and St Mary’s Primary School.

“Tetfest is organised by a team of volunteers," said Tetfest organiser and Tetbury Town Councillor Mark Trolly Wood.

"None of us are paid for our work and, indeed, most of us are dipping into our own pockets to make it happen.

“We want Tetbury to have a live music event because we feel that, with a rapidly expanding population, the town needs something to bring people together in an environment that is relaxed, fun and enjoyable.

"We really hope local people will give us their support so that Tetfest can become an established event on the town’s calendar.”

This year’s headline act is Oasis tribute band, Noasis, with Durandau Ballet, the Mick O’Toole Band, the Ukey Dukes, Mike Ayliffe, Bones Like That and DJ Moggy also set to perform.

There will also be an acoustic tent, a fully licensed bar, a free children’s entertainment area, food stalls and face painting.

Gates open at 1pm and the event runs until 11.30pm.

The event is an all ticket event with a maximum capacity of 500.
