Students at Cirencester College have completed the three peaks challenge raising £1,000 for charity.

22 of the college's uniformed public services students bravely took on one of their biggest challenges by completing three of the UK’s highest peaks.

The students themselves chose to take on this formidable and exciting expedition as part of a unit for their qualification.

On day one, the students headed off for Scotland with the long drive up to Fort William before they reached the summit of Ben Nevis the next day.

After completing this exhausting 1345 metres climb, the students very quickly moved on to Keswick in the Lake District.

On day three, the students reached their second peak, Scarfell Pike at a height 978 metres, before the next drive to Snowdonia.

On the final day of their expedition, the students, who were already exhausted, battled their way up to the summit of Mount Snowdon, finishing off with a 1085 metre climb on day four.

Lecturer Stuart Williams said: “The days were long and tiring with very early starts and late finishes but all involved made every effort to help each other not just on the mountains but with all the aspects of the expedition such as the camp craft, cooking and navigation. "In return, the sun shone favourably upon them all week!

"Also as a result of their efforts the students raised a fantastic amount of nearly £1000 for The Brain Tumour Charity."
