Farmers' Market news with Gerb Gerbrands.

Another bank holiday! Hooray! And what a fabulous market we have lined up.

It’s that time of the year when every week seems to bring along a new line of produce.

We already have tunnel tomatoes, strawberries, cucumbers, lettuces and courgettes, plus asparagus, carrots and rhubarb from the fields and this week we may see the first new potatoes of the year at Styan’s Family Produce, also tunnel grown.

As always with the early crops, get there early as they are likely to be in short supply.

And what an array of taste bud jangling stalls we have for you too!

Gould’s Cheddar have some tasty cheeses while the legend that is Tubby Tom returns with his amazing selection of chilli products including sauces, seasonings and pickles and he’ll be right next door to the Cotswold Curer.

For the more delicate palate amongst us there is Simon Weaver’s Brie and Blue Brie, Little Hollows Pasta has delicately flavoured pasta parcels and a marvellous home-made pesto and Nifty Nut Butters has a unique range.

Jess’ Ladies cover both aspects of the taste range with their smooth flavoured cream and their tasty yoghurt, which, incidentally, tastes like the yoghurt the milkman in Holland used to deliver in one litre bottles when I was little. Our sweet tooth won’t be left behind either as Cotswold Puddings, Fair and Square Brownies, Whittal’s Fudge and Emma’s Café will all be in attendance.
