It's all change at Tetbury Town Council following this month's elections.

A number of previous-serving councillors stood down and some were unsuccessful, with new members occupying nine of the fifteen seats following local elections on May 2.

At the annual meeting of the town council held on May 13, Cllr Nikki Ind was elected as Town Mayor, with Cllr Rob McCorkell as her deputy.

Nikki and Rob were among six members to retain their seats.

Nikki was also newly-elected as Cotswold District Councillor for Tetbury East and Rural Ward so, with that role and her civic duties as mayor, she expects to be very busy in the coming year.

She said: “I am very much looking forward to working with my new colleagues on the council and with our community, on a range of exciting projects, working together to maintain and improve the council’s services and high standards.

"l am also pleased to have Cllr Rob McCorkell as my deputy, he brings to the role a wealth of experience and knowledge.

"The town council has a great team with a mixture of experienced councillors, enthusiastic new members and an excellent team of Officers.

"Work will start immediately on an entirely new action plan for the 2019/20 council and also on updating or replacing the council’s five year business plan, to identify the new council’s priorities for the future.

We will also revisit the budget, to identify which projects we can afford in the coming year and the grants pot available to local groups.

"The last council did some good work on a plan to restore our reserves to a more healthy position, but that does mean we have to reduce the funding for more ambitious projects, all of which will be re-appraised in the light of our new priorities”

Deputy mayor Rob McCorkell added: “I think there are exciting and challenging times ahead for Tetbury Town Council.

Change is a positive thing and we must grab the opportunities this will bring with both hands.

"I look forward to working with the mayor and all my colleagues both new and old in what promises to be productive council term ”

Joining them on the council is Zowie Baker, Sandra Ball, Peter Coleman, Stephen Hirst, Martin Lea, Gary O’Connor, Kevin Painter, Ann Pearce, Colin Pearce, Rodders Smith, Tony Walsh and Mark Trolly Wood.
