A CHARITY football match in memory of three much loved friends is taking place in Stonehouse this weekend.

The first annual Michael Carman Memorial Cup match is set to take place on Saturday, May 18 at Oldends Lane, Stonehouse, kicking off at 2pm.

Shelley Sanders, one of the event organisers said: "Nigel Sanders, Claire Lovett and myself got together to put on the match in memory of three much loved friends from the town who sadly lost their lives to cancer in the last few months: Mike Carman, Justine Perry and Nick Ackland.

"We are raising funds for their families' chosen charities, which are Stand Up To Cancer, Longfield Hospice and Cancer Research UK.

"In April we put on a very successful quiz night and raised £1300 so we are hoping to match that total or beat it on Saturday.

"We have some fantastic raffle prizes to be won and there will be a BBQ too.

"Please come along and support this event."

Entry is £5.
