Exciting plans and new events for this year's Malmesbury Carnival has been revealed.

Plans for the carnival, one of the biggest events in the town's calendar are well underway.

After most of the volunteers who help organise the carnival announced in October last year that they would not be standing for re-election for this year's carnival, a new team team of volunteers came forward.

The new team are are looking to approach the task with a fresh pair of eyes, but said they would not 'completely reinvent the carnival, just add a few things in'.

One of the changes the committee is making is to the carnival website.

They are currently in the process of redesigning the website to make it the main hub for information on all the events and hope to have it launched in the next week.

There are plans for over 40 events running throughout August, as well as two new events, Carnival Blast Off and a scarecrow trail.

The Blast Off will take place at the Malmesbury Victoria Football Ground, and will consists of family friendly activities including music, BBQ, facepainting, fire engine, climbing wall and more.

And a 2019 ‘What’s on Guide’ will be delivered to all households in Malmesbury in early July.

The carnival procession will take place on August 31 and Petticoat Lane, a street fair on the High Street is earmarked for August 25.
