AN UNUSUAL event, which aims to help people explore the reality of death, is taking place in Stroud on Saturday.

Although many may think the topic slightly morbid, organisers promise it will offer participants ‘helpful and healthy’ insights into dying.

Organised by the Family Tree Funeral Company in Middle Street, Stroud, the day is set to include a book event in the morning, when four local authors will discuss their books on death and dying.

This will be followed by a pop-up death cafe in the afternoon.

"Both events aim to get conversations flowing about this still-taboo subject," said Jane Diamond, one of the event organisers.

"By talking and sharing our experiences we can become more familiar with the idea of death.

"It is a vital and vitally important part of life."

Free admission and free tea/coffee/cake throughout the day.

The event is part of Dying Matters annual national awareness week.

It is being held at the Family Tree Funeral Company in Middle Street, Stroud, on Saturday from 10.30am to 3.30pm.
