A SCHOOL in Stroud is the hardest primary to get a place at in Gloucestershire for the next academic year.
Foxmoor Primary School, in Cashes Green had to turn away 26 applications because demand for places exceeded space.
Of the county’s 231 community and voluntary-controlled primary schools, 65 had to turn away applications as demand was too high.
Out of the 6,508 applications for community primary and voluntary controlled schools, 92 per cent (5,974) got their first choice.
No children missed out on being allocated a place to start primary school later this year, Gloucestershire County Council data showed.
Allocation day for parents to send their children to start reception this September was April 16, and the county council have released the allocation figures.
Richard Bridgewater, headteacher at Foxmoor Primary School said: “We are delighted in the continued high levels of interest from parents and guardians wanting to send their children to Foxmoor.
"With the increased number of local housing, Ofsted rating of excellent and superb teaching facilities we don’t see any reason why this trend won’t continue.”
