A CLASSIC car once owned by Frank Sinatra was one of the fascinating exhibits at this year's Wheel Nuts car show.

The crooner's former vehicle, a Zimmer Golden Spirit, joined cars of all shapes and sizes at the 15th annual Wheel Nuts event.

Held at St Rose’s School in Stroud on Sunday, May 5, the show, which helps to raise funds for the school, attracted a record number of entries and large crowds.

The Zimmer Golden Spirit now belongs to P J Shanley from Cirencester.

He has only just managed to get the car on the road and Wheel Nuts was the first show that he has attended with it.

Frank Sinatra purchased it on December 12, 1983, and drove it around Palm Springs for five years, at which point he gifted the car to Sammy Davis Junior.

Sammy cruised around Las Vegas in it until his death, when it was given to the Elvis Motor Museum in Memphis.

Landrover, Mini, Ford, Vauxhall, Morris, Jaguar and Rolls Royce were just some of the other iconic makes on show.

Representatives from various clubs, including Gloucester MG Owners and the Gloucester Mini Owners Club had a large display of members' cars.

Gerald Roberts, a regular visitor to the show once again brought his 1929 V8 Cadillac Fleetwood which he has owned for the last 26 years and completely restored.

Visitors also enjoyed looking at Bennett/Glos BMX Club's display of BMX bikes, and there were examples of BS motorcycles as well, with the oldest motorcycle exhibit being a 1923 Triumph.

A line-up of VW camper vans attracted much interest too.

There was a range of stalls selling everything from plants, autojumble, books and crafts. And fresh food being cooked was available too.

The prizes awarded at the end of the day were:-
