ENTRIES have opened for this years Malmesbury In Bloom competitions.

The children's painting and photography competition is now underway.

This years theme is 'my favourite flower and or fruit and vegetables'.

The theme is for all age groups in all four categories this year.

The different age categories are: Under four-years-old, four-six six-years-old, seven to 11-years-old and 12 to 16-years old.

To enter, submit a photograph or painting, with a maximum size of A4, to the Town Hall by Friday, July 19.

Names of the artist, age, their school and contact details need to be on the back of all pictures.

Later in the year the paintings and photographs will be displayed in Malmesbury Library in August and September.

There will be a presentation evening in Malmesbury Town Hall on September 13, at 6pm, to which finalists and their families will be invited.

Entries are also open for the annual Malmesbury In Bloom garden competition.

This year, there are seven different categories.

Categories include the best large garden, the best wild flower area, the best vegetable patch and the best display at a commercial premises including pubs hotel and restaurants.

Other categories include best street road or area, best courtyard gardens and the best window boxes and or hanging baskets.

Entries close on Friday, July 12, with judging taking place the following Friday, July 19.
