CHILDREN, parents and staff at Octavia's book shop in Cirencester enjoyed a special visit and a reading from the cast of the Barn Theatre's latest production, The Butterfly Lion.
As well as reading from the Michael Morpurgo book upon which the play is based, children were also given a special treat as they had the chance to meet the baby lion puppet that features in the production.
Book shop owner, Octavia Emanuel said: “We had a full house for the cast of Butterfly Lion, the children were spellbound for the reading and loved meeting the baby lion puppet, as did the grown-ups, and me.
"I want to thank the Barn Theatre yet again for this wonderful collaboration.
It’s great to see how they can help small businesses like mine.”
The Butterfly Lion has enjoyed five star reviews since it opened on April 2. Michael Morpurgo himself was at an early performance, and attended a post-show questions and answers session conducted by the theatre’s Artistic Director, Iwan Lewis.
The much-loved author said: “It's a lot better than the book. Don’t buy the book, come and see the play, it’s much better.”
The Butterfly Lion is at the Barn Theatre from until May 4.
Tickets can be purchased online at barntheatre.org.uk or by calling the box office on 01285 648255.
