A PAINTER from Tetbury will be showcasing his work at an exhibition at the town's art venue, the Goods Shed.

Peter Unsworth is an established artist with an impressive list of one-man exhibitions. His exhibition, Different Place, is at The Goods Shed on April 16-May 26.

To describe him as a landscape painter would be to over-simplify his work. Closer examination of his paintings shows disturbing undercurrents. Anonymous yet recognisable figures are frozen in a moment and there’s a hint that something maybe about to happen for good or evil.

Peter was born in 1937 and studied at Middlesbrough School of Art and St Martin’s London, where he taught in the late 60s as well as at Sheffield School of Art.

Between 1965-1990 Peter had 10 one man shows with the Piccadilly Gallery and has exhibited in Bologna, Milan, Brussels, Hamburg, Ibiza, Baden Baden and Dublin.

He also designed sets and costumes for the Royal Ballet Company between 1967-1970.

Peter and his wife and three children moved to Ibiza in 1971 and lived there for many years, returning to London and Norfolk in 1990.

They are now living in Tetbury.

The exhibition is on April 16-May 26 (Wednesday-Sunday 11am-4pm). Admission is free.
