LAST Friday, pupils and staff from Kempsford Primary School had a special visit from GB and Welsh high jump champion Rob Mitchell.

Rob set the whole school a fitness circuit to complete consisting of some intense, functional movements that he uses as part of his training programme.

He also delivered an inspirational presentation to the school about his career as an athlete.

Rob represented Great Britain internationally from 1997-2016 as well as being a Commonwealth Games in Manchester in 2002 and in Melbourne in 2006.

His visit was part of of the charity Sports for Champions, which is aiming to send athletes into every school in the UK and Ireland to inspire children to lead a healthy lifestyle.

As part of the event, children at Kempsford were asked to raise money for the charity, who Rob is supported by.

Pupils from this small village school raised an amazing £1,482 in total.

Rob Mitchell said: "What a lovely experience being at Kempsford School today, what a lovely vibe and great children".

Carmen Ballard, sports manager at Kempsford said: “We are very passionate about keeping children active and them having positive role models within sport.

" Rob was fantastic with the children and I’m incredibly proud of how they represented the school today”.

She added: "For such a small village school we are so proud to have such huge support from our families and are incredibly proud of how the children and staff all came together on the day."
