THREE members of staff from Lechlade Garden Centre braved the strong and cold winds on Sunday, March 10 to run 10k for the centre’s nominated charity, Marie Curie, Chris Roberts writes.

Katherine James from the Garden Centre’s restaurant and Matt Wood from the store’s Maidenhead Aquatics braced themselves against the wind to run 40 laps of the overflow car park field, which is the equivalent of 10k.

At the same time in his home town, Tim Dowds, Lechlade Garden Centre’s regional manager, took part in the Minchinhampton 10k.

Katherine and Matt successfully completed their challenge and, thanks to donations in store and sponsorship, they raised a huge £1,550.80 in just four weeks for the charity that supports people living with any terminal illness and their families.

Meanwhile regional manager, Tim, completed the Minchinhampton 10k run in one hour and 19 minutes and has so far raised £625 from his JustGiving page.

Lechlade garden centre manager Kevin Brindley said: “Tim is our regional manager and he is the one who usually has us all running around, so we decided it was his turn to do some running. The amount they have so far raised between them is brilliant. And is just Lechlade’s contribution to the regional total.”
