An eight-year-old school boy from Cirencester was presented with a special award for bravery and ingenuity today.
The quick thinking Cirencester Primary pupil called 999 in the middle of the night to help his ailing mum.
Chief Constable Rod Hansen presented the young hero with his award earlier today. His proud mum, who is feeling much better, was there to watch.
Chief Constable Hansen said: "I was privileged this morning to present an award to an eight-year-old boy from Cirencester Primary School, who calmly used 999 in the middle of the night to help his poorly mum.
"This reinforced my belief that despite everything, the future is in safe hands."
