Police are issuing a stark warning to a dog walker who has been linked to two livestock attacks.

Officers have now received reports of two incidents regarding a brown Spaniel dog seen pursuing livestock near Wharf Lane in Lechlade.

The second incident reported to police happened on Sunday, March 10.

When the caller tried to speak to the owner about the behaviour of the dog, he was ignored.

Now police are warning the dog walker that repeat offending can result in a court ordering the dogs destruction.

Sergeant Garrett Gloyn said: "In February, Mark Doyle alerted Lechlade residents to a report regarding a brown Spaniel dog seen pursuing livestock near Wharf Lane in Lechlade.

"We hoped to identify the dog and it's walker and to remind all dog owners of their responsibility to stop dogs committing the offence of 'worrying livestock'.

"It is not, of course, the dog that commits the offence.

"It is the person who should be in charge of it and repeat offending can result in a court ordering the dogs destruction.

"Unfortunately, we have now received a second report regarding a similarly described Spaniel chasing livestock near Wharf Lane. "We are now keen to speak to this owner ourselves, and will not be ignored."

If you can help police identify the person and their dog, call police on 101 and quote incident number 359 of March 10.

Sergeant Gloyn added: "If you believe you know the owner, please pass on this message.

"If they continue to disregard their responsibilities they had better stop walking their dog in the vicinity.

"They just might find a constable taking a walk there too."
