HUSBAND and wife Tetbury residents, Clare and Steve Farthing have both had their heads shaved to raise money for Cancer Research UK, after close family and a friend were directly affected by the disease.

The head shaves took place on Friday, March 8 at local hairdresser Capelli Hair Design, by Hayley and Mia Ogden, Kevin Painter writes.

The shorn couple have so far raised over £2,500 for the charity.

Their hair is also being donated to the Little Princess Trust who provides free real-hair wigs to children and young people, up to 24 years, who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment or other conditions.

Clare said: "My crazy curls have taken a lot of years for me to grow to love and I feel that they are my trademark and they very regularly change colours too.

"None of this matters though, our hair will grow back, it's going to be low maintenance, I get to see my natural hair colour for the first time in 35 years and above all we'll be raising money for a great cause."

Hairdresser Hayley said: "Clare and Steve are truly inspiring raising money for cancer research and thank you to everyone who donated and came along to support this cause.’’

Hairdressers can also play their part in the fight against cancer as Hayley and her team can let clients know if they see any blemishes or moles on their scalp.
