A cotswold mum is leading a campaign to clean up the streets of South Cerney.

Abbie Stratford has came up with the idea of arranging a monthly village clean-up where the community can get together and keep the village clean.

Abbie came up with the idea after she went on a nature trail walk through the village with her children.

On the walk, they ended up collecting a couple of large bags of rubbish left behind by others.

"It was really disappointing to see so myself and my children came up with the idea of arranging a monthly clean up where the community can get together and take part in looking after our planet," Abbie said.

"It is so important that we all do our part in keeping where we live clean, and safe for the future generations, wildlife and pets!

"We need to show our children why it’s important, teach them how to be environmentally friendly and encourage them to help."

The first clean up in the village will start on February 23 and 24, and will then take place every last weekend of each month after that.

If you want to join Abbie on the clean-up, there will be a meeting at the Fenton's community centre at 1pm on both days before the clean up begins.
