The MP for Filton and Bradley Stoke Jack Lopresti has joined with campaigners to promise that a new site for recycling will be found to accommodate the Almondsbury, Bradley Stoke, Winterbourne and Patchway areas.

South Gloucestershire councillors are currently searching for potential alternative sites within easy reach of residents living in communities such as Bradley Stoke, Stoke Gifford and Patchway.

This site would complement the existing recycling facilities Thornbury, Yate and Mangotsfield.

There is currently a site in Little Stoke, however this has been dubbed restrictive by a South Gloucestershire councillor.

Cllr Sarah Pomfret, who represents Bradley Stoke, said: “We are keen to see a new Sort-It Centre built in our area, one that is larger than the current site in Little Stoke that is less restrictive so it can handle more people and more types of waste.

"In South Gloucestershire we understand the importance of encouraging residents for being environmentally sensitive and have worked hard in recent years to provide top quality value-for-money services that ensure it is as simple for them to do as possible.

"As a result, we are on track to be achieving 60 per cent recycling target by the end of this year and want to better this even further.”
