A dog owner has been warned that he could go to his jail and his bulldog could be destroyed unless he keeps it under control.

Paul Tomes, 28, of Batsford Close, Bourton-on-the-Water, was found guilty by Cheltenham Magistrates on February 13, of being the owner of a dog dangerously out of control.

The white and brown dog, called Ruby, injured a woman on September 9, 2017 in The Furrows, Bourton-on-the-Water.

The court ordered that unless Ruby was kept under control on a non-retractable lead and was wearing a muzzle, whenever in a public place, throughout the animal’s life, the dog would be destroyed.

Tomes was given a four-month jail sentence suspended for 12 months, ordered to pay £410 compensation and £400 prosecution costs.
