A professor is giving a talk in Stroud next week where he will discuss whether the British Empire is behind the UK's vote to leave the EU.

On Thursday, February 28, Danny Dorling, a professor of geography at Oxford University, is giving a talk entitled 'Rule Britannia: Brexit and the end of Empire'.

From 7.30pm at Lansdown Hall he will discuss the impact of the Empire's legacy but also consider whether Brexit is "the cure to Britain's unhealthy relationship with its past".

Tickets cost £10 and are available from Trading Post on Kendrick Street in Stroud. Doors open 7pm.
