A community centre in Malmesbury celebrated two years since it first launched with a slice of cake.

The Riverside Community Centre marked the occasion with one of its seniors monthly drop-in group, the Saturday Friends.

A valuable asset to the local community, the centre currently has 45 local groups and people of all ages using the space and facilities on a regular basis.

It has gone from strength to strength since it opened back in February 2017.

They now hire our its main hall for children's birthday parties as well as supporting other projects, such as Emma’s Repair Cafe and the Christmas Handmade Fayre.

Kim Power, chair of Friends of Riverside said: “Two years have flown by and we are still delighted by Riverside’s on-going success.

"We would like to thank Wiltshire Council again for their investment in refurbishing the building and for giving us the opportunity to run it for the benefit of our community."

Friends of Riverside, who manage the facility have been invited by Wiltshire Council to organise a Malmesbury area contribution to a commemorative wall hanging for National Armed Forces Day at the end of June.

All local seniors have been invited to get involved.

Work will be completed at the next three open Saturday Friends Drop Ins on March 16, April 13 and May 18.

The final wall hanging will be toured around Wiltshire.
