Malmesbury Town Council is hopeful that repair works will commence soon on the Market Cross.
In November last year, a recycling truck crashed into the Grade I historic monument causing considerable damage to the structure.
An engineer has now been picked by the town council, who has produced a a specification of required work that meets with the approval of the conservation officer at Wiltshire Council and the engineer for Historic England.
A spokesperson for Malmesbury Town Council said: "Our insurance company has given authority to go out for tender to the three specialist companies selected by the team and they will wish to see the documents before we have their consent to proceed to appointment.
"This is a lengthy process mainly because of all the consents required before involving specialist contractors.
"However we hope that work will be commencing soon so that the Market Cross is restored once again."
