Frustrated residents around Cirencester say that they have been without electricity for at least nine hours thanks to a power cut.the power outage

The power outage is thought to have begun at around 11pm last night, Sunday, but residents were forced to resort to other ways to get ready for the day ahead after they woke up to no electricity too.

"We are boiling water on the stove to wash this morning which is a pain but manageable," said one woman from Stratton.

"But as both myself and my husband work from home and need the internet to do that, we're pretty keen to find out when we can expect normal service to resume."

Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks, who are responsible for the power in the area apologised for the disruption when our reporter spoke to them at just before 8am this morning (Monday).

"We are sorry for the power outage," the spokesperson said.

"We have a main network fault but we're aiming to have the power back on now.

"We're just awaiting confirmation and an update from our engineers."

Although the electricity company's website says that the fault has now been resolved a number of people have spoken to the paper and confirmed that they are still without power.
